BLADE SMITH - Pike County Illinois youth deer season turned out better than average for Blade Smith a 8 year old Pike County resident. One of grandpa Jerry's love of life Is to get people involved in hunting but most of all he totally gets the biggest thrill in life taking his grand kids hunting. Blade is the newest challenge for grandpa. Youth season kicked off Saturday oct 12th in Pike County Illinois. While sitting in his deer blind Sunday evening with Grandpa and cousin Madison a 8 pointer entered the field approaching the blind and stops at 60 yards quartered toward the blind. With a little help from grandpa he was in position for the first shot at a whitetail deer. Looking through the scope sitting on his H&R 20 gauge single shot shotgun loaded with Hornady SST's The shot was perfect and the deer barely made in out of the field. What an exciting event for this 8 year old boy. Memories they will have forever.
