Al Clary with the Star City Whitetails 2012-Buck Of The Year - Al shot this Monster 20pnt Buck he nicknamed MAHULLA on January 5th…the last day of firearms season @ The Hunt Road Hunt Club in Sussex Co Va. Al’s hunt club is made up of good friends that hunt with “management” in mind- letting the little guys go… They don’t even start hunting their hunt club land till mid November. With over 4,000 acres of land these boys like to use their dogs to promote the action… This Monster Buck had only been seen on trail cam in the summer of 2011. He was basically a ghost…as many big bucks are… Al was so moved by the trail cam picks that he gave the buck a nickname not only that he put the nickname “MAHULLA” on his license plate in hopes of one day killing him.. With last light approaching Al heard one dog down near a swamp on the property. Al hiked about 500 yrds across a cutover to a pinch point that he has hunted before. Mahulla popped out and Al got 5 shots off with his shotgun, several while running at the buck in order to close the distance. Mahulla ran across the swamp, darkness fell and they couldn’t find him. The search resumed Sunday, Monday & Tuesday without success. Wednesday the buzzards began to circle and Mahulla was found only 50 yards from the swamp where he crossed… MAHULLA scored #1 in the state of Va for 2012-2013. The Buck scored 224 8/16 under Virginia's scoring system and 190 Boone & Crockett. I just got off the phone with Al to gather the scoop on his hunt. Al sounds like a good ole Virginia boy who loves nothing more than being in the woods with good friends looking for Big Virginia Bucks… He certainly found one in MAHULLA!!!!!! Congratulations Al…
